Privacy Policy
Piggleball helps players find courts, partner up, check in, challenge teams, and track ladder activity. This policy explains what information Piggleball collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Overview
This Privacy Policy applies to the Piggleball mobile app and related services. "Piggleball," "we," "us," and "our" refer to the Piggleball service. By using Piggleball, you agree that we may collect and use information as described in this policy.
Piggleball is built around local pickleball activity. Some information, such as your display name, username, team name, ladder ranking, match record, and court check-in status, may be visible to other users so the app can function.
Information We Collect
Account and profile information
We collect information you provide when creating or updating an account, including your name, username, email address, profile photo, community or school, skill level, and sign-in provider information. If you sign in with Apple, we use the name and account information Apple provides according to your Apple settings.
Phone verification information
Piggleball uses phone number verification to reduce fake accounts and ladder abuse. We collect your phone number for verification and account integrity. Phone verification is handled using Firebase Authentication.
Location information
If you allow location access, Piggleball uses your device location to show nearby ladders and courts and to help determine whether you can check in at a court. Check-in activity is associated with your account and team.
Partner, team, ladder, court, and match information
We collect and store information about partner requests, accepted partners, teams, ladder memberships, rankings, court check-ins, challenges, match scores, score approvals, score disputes, and related activity history.
Moderation information
If you report or block a team or user, we collect the report reason, source of the report, reported user or team identifiers, block records, timestamps, and moderation status.
Device and notification information
If you enable push notifications, we collect device push tokens and notification preference state so we can send challenge, partner request, score approval, and score acceptance notifications.
Usage and sponsor analytics
We collect limited app activity events, including ladder views, sponsor impressions, and sponsor taps. These events may include your user ID, ladder ID, ladder name, court ID, court name, team ID, challenge ID, sponsor name, sponsor link, source, and timestamp.
How We Use Information
- To create, secure, and maintain your account.
- To verify phone numbers and reduce fake or abusive ladder activity.
- To show nearby courts, ladders, live teams, and check-in status.
- To manage partners, teams, challenges, match scores, rankings, and activity history.
- To send push notifications you enable.
- To process reports, blocks, account deletion requests, and safety controls.
- To understand app usage, improve features, and measure sponsor placements.
- To troubleshoot errors, prevent abuse, enforce rules, and comply with legal obligations.
Location
Piggleball requests location permission to find nearby courts and ladders and to support court check-in. Precise location data may be linked to your identity because check-ins and nearby play features are tied to your account and team.
You can disable location access in iOS Settings. If location is disabled, some court discovery and check-in features may not work.
Notifications
Piggleball may send push notifications for challenges, partner requests, score approval requests, score acceptances, and related app activity if you enable notifications. You can disable notifications in iOS Settings or in the app where available.
Sponsors and Analytics
Piggleball may show sponsored ladder or court placements, such as "presented by" messages with sponsor names, logos, or links. We may collect sponsor impression and tap events to measure whether sponsor placements are being seen and used.
Piggleball does not use third-party ad networks in the app and does not use sponsor placements to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Retention and Deletion
We keep information for as long as needed to operate Piggleball, provide app features, protect the integrity of ladders and match history, resolve disputes, enforce rules, and meet legal obligations.
You can delete your account in the app settings. Account deletion removes your user profile, partner links, teams, ladder memberships, court check-ins, active challenges, related partner invites, and authentication account. Some records may be retained if necessary for safety, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or backup recovery.
Your Choices
- You can update your profile information in the app.
- You can disable location access or notifications in iOS Settings.
- You can block teams or users so they cannot see your check-in status or challenge you.
- You can remove partners in the app.
- You can delete your account in the app settings.
- You can contact us to ask questions about your privacy or data.
Security
We use technical and administrative safeguards designed to protect personal information, including Firebase security rules, authenticated cloud functions, phone verification, and restricted server-side operations for sensitive actions. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
Piggleball is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Piggleball, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and may provide additional notice in the app or through other reasonable means.
